I disagree. I think the correct caption should be "If you're an idiot behind the wheel and daddy didn't buy you snow tires, you're gonna have a bad time."

My super computer powered AWD will let my summer performance tires get traction in the winter. . . .

Purdue has some seriously rich kids, doesn't it?

Tires aren't even expensive(well maybe in those sizes they are). Work a month and a half and you got yourself a nice set of tires. Although, I don't think these guys actually work.

Judging by the Bentley and 458, I would say yes.

Goddammit. Now I'm even more disappointed that I didn't get in. I'd much prefer snow and sports cars to burning heat and bro trucks...

You say that, but it is like -20 today. It is freezing.

Pretty much all universities have a small subset of students with parents that will buy anything. When I was at Carnegie Mellon, this one girl drove around a brand new E60 M5. I actually played a game once (in retrospect a really stupid game) where I saw her pulling into a parking lot, and decided to walk through the crosswalk (pedestrians have right of way) without looking to see if she would stop. When I saw her not even slowing down in my peripheral vision I looked up and saw her panicking behind the wheel, waving her arms in the air and screaming with her eyes shut. Not only should she not have been behind the wheel of a 507hp V10 BMW, she should not have been behind the wheel at all if that was her reaction to a pedestrian stepping out infront of her car.

But back to crazy loaded students. I once tried to buy a BMW Z3 3.0 from a MIT students who also had a 996 Turbo and Maserati Gran Turismo. And a friend of mine went to UMASS Amherst and he said a bunch of kids had Gallardos and GT-Rs. I bet all these students would be in a similar situation at the first sign of snow.

Fair enough. Still, you can always put more on, but there's only so much that can come off. Once it gets to be summer again... oh god no.

Yeah it sounds like a lot of the driver of the more expensive cars. Like the girl who drives the Bentley with the licenses plate that says Italia. Also, we had a Supra crash here. He drove it like he stole it all the time, luckily he didn't hurt anyone. Now he owns an RX-7. I wouldn't be mad at them getting cars from their parents. As you know, we would all do the same if are parents could. I am more annoyed at the fact they don't know how to treat them.

I went to Arizona State, you should see some of the cars there. A lot of kids from Saudi Arabia come there, and a lot of them seem to be the children of oil barons. lol GTRs, NSXs, a few Ferraris, more matte black and chromed Mercedes than I ever want to see again, some R8s, and apparently an LFA.

I think you're assuming a bit too much. My parents would not buy me a $100k car even if they had hundreds of millions sitting without use. They could've helped me buy something for my first car, but I told them I wanted to buy my car all myself and refused their help. Ended up with an 1997 Audi A6 Avant... that I found for $3k on craigslist. And even if they did buy me a Murcielago, I'd like to think I wouldn't be a total asshat like a lot of these kids.

I know its hard to say what kind of parent you'll be, but I'd like to think that I won't buy my kids insane cars just because I have the money for it.

Yeah, I guess that is true. There is no real way to find out, unless your parents are in fact rich. I saved up for a few years in high school and so far every payment of my car was made by me, which makes me a happy pappy. Makes me feel like I have done something with my life. If my parents start helping it makes me feel like a major mooch, and to say my favorite Indian phrase it is like "I am using them!!!"

I am 20 and I can say that a 20 year old with something that expensive is not a good idea. In fact is the worst idea. A bad choice from the parents.

A lot of money but not a lot of sense...

My parents could've easily paid for my way through engineering school, but they chose to teach me a lesson about the value of a dollar. Honestly I'm glad it worked out that way as much as I hate paying these loans off. FWIW, I drove a $1,500 Chevy Lumina in high school/college and I bought both of my Subarus with my own money

Have you ever been to Notre Dame? My wife's dad is a professor there and lives in a community where only 10% of their neighbors live there permanently- the rest are alumni who fly their private jets into town to watch the games and see their kids 6 times a year... and the kids drive brand new Merc and Bimmer SUVs. The parties these people throw are outlandish. I believe I blushed the first time I walked into one of these lavish parties

Visited there when I was younger, like 10 or 11, but can't remember taking notice of any cars. lol

I mean the car selection isn't anything outlandish like you mentioned, but just the massive amounts of money present on campus during football weekends

Yeah. I live not too far from Northwestern now, and that place is pretty ridiculous too.

I'm about 90 minutes north of NW, so when I drive down to Chicago I like to make pit-stops and see the houses and the cars in Evanston. Pretty ridiculous

Yeah, I'm in Libertyville. My aunt and uncle live in Evanston and we drove through NW's campus when I was in town for my job interview back in November.

I am pretty embarrassed to say that my parents are paying for my schooling but I have paid for the car, mods, and rent money, so I am not completely bumming off them.

Even though it is only schooling, I still feel like a mooch. It is hard to explain

Texas? I went to UT and my physics professor had a 430 and a SL55 AMG. He would invite everyone over 21 out to the bar after any tests, sadly I was only 20 at the time.

You see, you are not making your point. All I did was say that he is an idiot for driving on summer rubber in winter conditions. Rich or poor, he is an idiot.
